We are very excited to announce that the two Camphill Communities in Hermanus (Farm & School) have been jointly selected as hosts of the international Camphill Dialogue 2020 Conference in March next year!

This is an opportunity for representatives from Camphill Communities worldwide, as well as affiliated organisations, to get together to share ideas and to strengthen existing relationships.

The conference will take place from the 16-20 March on the Camphill grounds in the Hemel en Aarde valley in Hermanus and will be hosting approximately 80 delegates. The majority of delegates will be staying in accommodation in and around the town of Hermanus.

The overarching theme for this conference is: “Camphill values today and your Community”.

We are also pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be Christo Brand, who was Nelson Mandela’s warder when Mr. Mandela was a prisoner on Robben Island and at Pollsmoor prison in Cape Town. Christo was also administratively involved during the crucial drafting of South Africa’s new constitution in the early and mid-1990’s.

Christo is a humble man whose values, instilled in him by his parents and enhanced through his relationship with Mr. Mandela, mirror the Camphill values in so many ways, values such as the fundamentals of respecting and accepting the human being, regardless of race, culture, political persuasion, sex or (dis)ability.
